Chapters Health System Launches Expansion of Services into Martin and St. Lucie Counties

Not-for-profit services will include hospice, palliative care and home health

Chapters Health System, one of the nation’s premier not-for-profit, community-based healthcare organizations, today announced the launch of its expansion of services into Martin and St. Lucie counties. When all phases are completed, Chapters Health will offer a full continuum of care including hospice, palliative care, home health and other community-based care models to area residents.

“At Chapters Health, we’re always looking for opportunities to increase access to quality healthcare for a greater number of individuals in our communities who are faced with advancing age, complex medical conditions and end-of-life issues,” said Andrew Molosky, MBA, FACHE, CHPCA, president and chief executive officer at Chapters Health. “We’re now in a position to offer the communities we serve unique solutions and top-notch clinical services from hospice to palliative care to home health and so much more. The future of Chapters Health is very bright, and changing the way community-based care is delivered.”

Hospice care services will move forward in Martin and St. Lucie counties as Chapters Health Hospice. Hospice of Okeechobee Executive Director Gayle Gerntrup will oversee Chapters Health’s newest service line in these two counties. In the next phase of the plan, palliative care services will launch sometime in the fall, which will be followed by home care in 2021 pending licensure.

“Hospice of Okeechobee was formed to meet the needs of local people. We know and understand them,” Gerntrup said. “We’re thrilled to be able to expand our services and continue our tradition of exceptional care into Martin and St. Lucie counties.”

In the first phase of the launch, Chapters Health Hospice will care for patients with a six month or less prognosis with an interdisciplinary team approach. Hospice services also include durable medical equipment, medical supplies and medication, as well as bereavement support for individuals and families.
